Senior Director, Materials Costing & Portfolio Management

Purpose A key player in Global Sourcing in driving Sourcing’s vision. Develop adidas global material supplier portfolio across all product divisions and long-term T2 supply base country of origin strategies to ensure Materials Sourcing for the overall success of adidas business. Lead and drive the implementation of materials costing mechanism and negotiation that contributes to adidas’ over profitability and cost predictability. Key Responsibilities Oversee commercial relationship to all Tier 2 and strategic Tier 3 suppliers across locations and material categories. Define and ensure a balanced and competitive supplier portfolio for every material category, taking into account multiple factors like cost competitiveness, innovation, quality and speed. Build Long-term country of origin (COO) strategy and supplier portfolio strategy per material category jointly with the VP Materials Sourcing. Assess the impacts to materials sourcing according to company strategy in short, mid and long term. Translating strategic portfolio decisions into operative actions across locations and functions for transparency. Ensure and track the implementation of material portfolio strategy in line with the overall materials sourcing strategy, e.g., onboarding or phase-out of suppliers. Possess trade knowledge and track economic trends and establish a sophisticated material cost forecasting model to ensure profitability, transparency and predictability. Lead material costing process, negotiation and reporting. Create and establish standardized, advanced, data-driven, and continuously improved materials costing approaches and procedures to enable comprehensive cost analysis across all divisions and drive profitability. Lead seasonal price negotiations by collaborating with Finance and Costing. Inform seasonal savings to Finance. Role model leadership to foster a culture of Diversity Equity & Inclusion that strives for an inclusive workplace. Develop and coach team to ensure the best standards of performance, appropriate skillsets and strong succession plans are in place. Key Relationships Global Sourcing: Sourcing Operations, other Materials Sourcing functions, Engineering & Manufacturing Innovation, Strategic Sourcing & Sustainability, Costing Sourcing Product Operations: Business Unit Materials, Sustainability and Materials Global Legal: Legal Counsel External stakeholders: Tier 2 Suppliers and selected Tier 3 Sourcing Suppliers Finance Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Effective leadership qualities that contribute to achieving the company’s strategic objectives and personal development goals. Excellent people and influencing communication skills. Strong business acumen, data-analytical and negotiation skills. Excellent problem-solving and project management skills. Ability to drive initiatives and change. Strong knowledge sports product manufacturing methods. Possesses growth mindset and prioritize one’s betterment to enhance performance. Good knowledge of Microsoft office, especially PowerPoint and Excel. Fluent in English communication, knowledge of another language (ideally Mandarin, Vietnamese, Bahasa, or German) is an advantage. Ability to lead multidimensional teams. Requisite Education and Experience University degree in Business Administration, Finance or Procurement is preferred. 12+ years professional costing or materials experience in soft goods manufacturing is preferred. Project management experience is preferred. 5+ years of people management experience
