Role Overview: The Senior Electronic Engineer plays a significant role in new product development and lifecycle sustainability. He/she will serve as the Electrical Engineering lead in the design, development, and testing of analog/digital electronics for new products in various product categories. This is a hands-on position in a creative, fun, and driven work environment, with outstanding growth potential for the right candidate. The Senior Electronic Engineer’s primary goal is to define a qualified design solution in timely, cost-effective manner to meet or exceed NPD and sustain project targets. They have ownership for all activities for electronic engineering discipline in support of NPD and sustain process with CMs. The Senior Electronic Engineer drives alignment with internal team (product management, project management, mechanics, acoustics, software, operation teams and others) and external team (CM, tooling supplier and other tier 2 suppliers) to create a solution and communicate gaps to technology solution vs product/project requirements. The Senior Electronic Engineer builds strong relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders and deliver analytical excellence to optimize product solution. Short term tasks are to be on site for the development products we have in process that can travel to manufacturing lines and review the issues, do on site debug, work with sub-suppliers to work out V&V of system and function, test setup changes. On top of this would also be some CIE support. Something like being support for the component’s alternatives or EOL replacement in managing BOM changes and the ECR process. Especially if he/she can manage a lot of the components alternative or replacement changes independently. In the longer term he/she need to work independently on NCD/NPD tasks to architect analog and digital systems for audio products. He/she contribute to product definition and design and enjoy a creative development environment. He/she could also manage accessories, new product variants and other product development tasks. He/she need to facilitate through cross function to align on our quality, functionality, compliance, and safety standards that they must follow. Essential Functions: Significant electronic design, troubleshooting, and DFM experience for specifically audio products System mindset and architecture experience for audio products. Analyze product/system requirements and define the appropriate analog, digital or mixed-system hardware system architecture. Design electrical circuitry, including schematic entry and PCB layout. Troubleshoot hardware prototypes and verify all aspects of electrical performance. Determine optimal solutions to hardware design issues discovered during design verification. Ensure product compliance with applicable worldwide electromagnetic and safety standards. Acoustic product experience: ability to debug EMC, acoustic noise, and others. Ability to evaluate design from a customer perspective, testing installation, functionality, tolerance analysis. Experience with schematic, layout reviews and approvals Experience with review thermal management, heatsink design, thermal test plan creation and execution. Documentation experience, creating schematic, PCB layout, BOM management, ECRs Create awareness of technology availability and product/project misalignments to drive collaborative resolution. Maintain design master data within systems to ensure data integrity. Communicate major changes to key stake holders. has the responsibility for the successful initiation, high level planning, monitoring, managing the CM team to meet the new program development requirement. applies knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to help PM in managing sample build of a project and to meet the project requirements effectively and efficiently. acts as technical lead to work with NPI team for any technical discussion aligned with core PE's direction. responsible for providing input on issues that impact the schedule, project cost, or risk from technical domain perspective. Work with NPI team members (Process Engineer, Test engineers & EE/ME members) to manage all NPI activities. Keep track of the bigger picture and coordinates cross-functional efforts to achieve project goals from core team Proactively manage risk mitigation in the execution of the project, especially in each sample build milestones Lead the local team or CM to work within the plan to achieve objectives. Develop plans to recover from issues that have arisen (risks that have been realized). Help in PM/PE in preparing critical events review packages, such as Sample Build readiness review. Work as technology expert to support building up the strong supplier portfolio to enable innovation, to make NPD/NPI happened, to sustain and optimize cost-effectiveness. leverage in-place relationships and optimize electronic development performance for CM, ODM, JDM programs. as key contributor who interfaces heavily with external suppliers, internal manufacturing, engineering, quality, and program management team members to improve cost, delivery, quality, and lead time for new program launches. Working in collaboration with CM Team, coordinate early supplier involvement in highly technical and/or complex new products, parts, and designs to optimize quality and meet product requirements. Handle Manufacturing test such as ICT, FCT, acoustic testing, RF testing. Less designing the equipment, but specifying which tests are needed per new product, and how to validate new test setups. Design for Manufacturing review: ME Tolerance analysis skills, PCBA component placement, solderability issues, PCBA stress analysis Required Skills B.S. in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience. Engineering Proficiency in spoken and written Chinese and English At least 8 years solid electronic development engineering experience in audio hardware development, including digital, analog, and mixed-signal electronics. Understands EMC, acoustic noise, temperature-humidity testing, component stresses. Proficient in schematic capture and PCB layout CAD software. Working knowledge of audio-specific test equipment, such as Audio Precision, Spectral Measurement, etc Working knowledge of hardware and software development tools, including electromagnetic and thermal simulation, is preferred. Ability to work in an engineering lab and competent with standard lab equipment including oscilloscopes, current probes, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators. Ability to accurately provide development time/resource estimates for a given set of technical/project requirements. Ability to work with very little supervision, prioritize between multiple tasks, meet aggressive deadlines, work extended hours as needed Ability to analyze a multitude of technical issues and find effective, practical solutions quickly. Experience in NPD and sustain project with contracts / subcontracts within the CM, ODM, JDM environment. Experiences working in and managing projects using a product development process. Familiar with international compliance and standards in safety, EMC & etc. Familiar with product reliability/validation Frequent travel to factories in China and sometime in Asia is required. Can work under pressure with multi-task and tight schedule. Outgoing, independent, hardworking, and willing to work under pressure. Demonstrated expertise in critical thinking, influence, negotiation, problem solving, analytics and strategic thinking. Directly address challenges using data and deliver results using sound analytics. Ability to create and foster a team-based environment to establish and maintain a cooperative relationship with individuals. a self-starter. Ability to effectively lead and facilitate meetings with cross functional teams and drive appropriate actions.
